NATURAL CALAMITIES IN BANGLADESH
Bangladesh is a fair land. But it is also a land which experiences natural calamities of all kinds almost every year. The calamities that this land experiences are the nor-westerly,cyclones,tornadoes,drought,and than excessive rain and floods. The very name of each of these calamities is enough to present before our eyes a vivid picture of the devastating effects caused by them. The geographical position of Bangladesh is such that it is located in the monsoon region,and the natural calamities are due to her physical features. The nor-westerly lashes this land generally in the months of 'Chaitra and Baishakh'. It comes suddenly and causes serious damage to life and property. The cyclones occur on account of depression in the Bay of Bengal. They cause terrible destruction. people suffer greatly for want of food and pure drinking water. Man becomes helpless when it occurs with a mighty violence. Then there are the dangers of high walls of water washes away everything of the affected area. Drought causes fall in the production of food grains. It is generally followed by famine The comes th question of the flood. Flood has become almost common in this land. It makes life miserable from all considerations.
NATIONAL FLAG OF BANGLADESH
A national flag is the symbol of independence to a nation. Our national flag is the symbol of our freedom. It also bears our nationalism. It is rectangular in size. Its length and breadth is 10:6 in proportion. It is made of cloth. The green color of our national flag is bottle-green with a blood-red circle in the middle. The green color denotes the green field of Bangladesh and the blood-red color in the middle is the symbol of blood of the martyrs. We are proud of it. We love and respect our national flag very much.
FRUITS OF BANGLADESH
Bangladesh is the darling child of nature. She has made her child rich with her various fruits. Many kinds of fruits grow in different seasons all over the country. Fruits are of different kinds ,colours,sizes and taste. Some are big and some are small. Some taste sweet and some sour. Mango is the king of fruits in Bangladesh. There are many kinds of mangoes. They are Langra,Fazli,Gopalbhaog, Mohonbhog etc. Mango grows in plenty in Rajshahi, Dinajpur and Bogra. Jack fruit is the biggest fruit in our country. It grows everywhere in our country all the year round. It is sweet and beautiful. Champa, Sabri, Amritsar etc are famous bananas. It is a common fruit in Bangladesh. It grows everywhere but in plenty in Khulna, Barisal and Patuakhali. Its water is a sweet drink. Its kernel is a tasty food. The orange is juicy and tasteful fruit. It is good for liver. The palm is also a well-known good fruit. The papaw is also a good fruit. There are many other fruits in Bangladesh. The pine apple is a good fruit o f rainy season. It is full of sweet juice. The lichi is another small and sweet fruit. It grows everywhere in Bangladesh but plenty in Rajshahi. Among other fruits black berries dates, melons, guava wood-apples and plums are very well known. There are some fruits are useful in many ways. Fruits meet up our demands for different vitamins. Many families in Bangladesh earn a lot by growing and selling different kinds of fruits. Fruits grow largely in Bangladesh but many fruits are rotten for want of proper care. So our government should take care of this matter.
